Life Force Breath  -  Morning Grounding Practice

Here is a quick 6 minute practice and fabulous way to start your day.  This practice was taught to me by my mentor and favorite teacher Geo Moskios, the father of Power Yoga. His mentor Indra Devi taught it to him.

Geo called this routine Life Force Breath. Pranayama is a sanskrit word that also means life force breath. It refers to any number of breathing exercises that use the breath to intentionally clear emotional and physical blocks in the body so that the flow of life force energy, or prana, can move freely and effortlessly through the body so that our bodies can naturally heal themselves. This routine is a lovely form of pranayama.

Doing this exercise barefooted is especially beneficial. Really take the time to tune into  the soles of your feet and feel the ground beneath your feet. You may notice my toes lifting and moving as I introduce this work. I love to really feel my feet on the ground and notice the temperature and texture of the floor. Tuning into our senses is a great way to come into the present moment to prepare for meditation and for setting intentions for the day ahead.

So take your time setting up for this exercise.  Bless the day ahead. Think of your gratitudes. And then tune into your breath and the feelings your body experiences with this lovely sequence of inhales and exhales.

Have a lovely day! Enjoy.
