Ten Minutes to Great Arms

Have you ever wanted some quick and easy exercises for your arms that don’t require any special equipment or traveling to the gym?

I happen to be a person who likes to exercise. Especially my arms. But a lot of people I know don’t feel that way.  And through many years of teaching all kinds of exercise, from aerobics to yoga and dance, I have had people ask me many times to show them ways to exercise that they could fit right into their normal day without a lot of hassle.

The things that we will continue to do regularly are things that don’t require a lot of effort or fancy equipment and give us the reward of helping us feel and look better in a short period of time.

In the following video, I show you a series of arm exercises that really work and don’t require anything but gravity and your own resistance to be effective. They are easy, and you will notice a difference in your arms and posture quickly, if you begin to do them regularly.

You can do these in front of the bathroom mirror, in the kitchen or in front of the TV.  Even better, do them outside when the weather’s nice, and soak in a few minutes of sun to get a nice dose of Vitamin D.

Inside or out, you can do these barefooted, so that you can ground yourself at the same time.

Keep these very simple at first.

Then, as you incorporate them into who you are and what you do, you can add some gentle knee bends as you move your arms, and you will get those legs pumping more blood to your heart and brain.

If you are in the right space, you can always add some fun music that inspires you.  You can add more resistance with bands, but know that they will work without them.

Then…  remember to smile more than I did while doing these!

Because so much of our days are spent sitting, hunched over a phone, computer or iPad, our posture is suffering, our upper backs are rounding, and our heart space is being closed off.

These exercises will help improve your posture because they encourage you to open your heart and stand up tall and straight. They also help strengthen your upper back so that you will naturally stand taller.

The whole video is about 12 minutes long.

I made this during Covid for my church in Laguna Beach. It’s not very fancy and, unfortunately, the sound quality is a little wonky, but the exercises are good and can be done every day, or a few days a week to help your arms get and stay strong, lean, and defined.

I like to follow these up with counter push-ups.  Look for my video on how to do those correctly so that you can add them to the things you like to do for yourself.

Have fun.  I do hope you enjoy.
